Shopping in Genoa

Genoa is a city full of boutiques and luxury shops, big shopping centres, ateliers, ancient workshops where you can buy traditional and modern products and typical local food. Genoa is the ideal place for varied and quality shopping. In the historical centre of the city, the main streets for shopping issue from Piazza De Ferrari, but you cannot forget Via XX Settembre and Via Roma. A walk in Via Roma is the best thing to discover ancient houses and shops. Here you will find the most elegant shops. Via Roma is maybe the most chic street in the historical centre of Genoa, with shops and boutiques of the most important and famous fashion signatures.

The area of the narrow streets offers also many opportunities for shopping: clothes shops, toys shops, music shops, spices and fresh fruits.  Portici di Sottoripa in particular, located in the ancient harbour area, are very typical and have an old-time ambiance. Via San Luca and Via Orefici are also ideal places to purchase shoes and clothes at the most affordable prices. For those who are fond of good cuisine, we suggest a walk between Via San Vincenzo and Via Colombo, where you can enjoy Genoa typical specialities and many different products from Liguria.

There are in Genoa many corner markets, in particular in Piazza Palermo and Piazza Terralba. There are also markets for typical local products, like the market in Piazza Matteotti every second weekend of the month or the antique market near Palazzo Ducale in the first weekend of every month. If you are fond of historical markets you have to visit the Eastern market located in the centre of the city between Via XX Settembre and Via Galata. It has been a shopping centre for more than two centuries and it has a wide range of products, above all flowers and typical food.
